Textures

A texture is a gradient drawn over a palette background to give it depth without using an image. It uses the palette's own colours, so it stays on-brand in both the light and dark schemes and needs no artwork.

Three families are available from the Texture field:

  • Linear — a gradient from one edge or corner: Start, End, Top, Bottom and the four corners.

  • Radial — Spotlight (lighter centre) or Vignette (darker edges).

  • Conic — a sweep from one of the four corners.

Textures can be set on a component (Presentation group), on the page banner and on the site's regions (Themer settings). They combine well with a pattern — the tiled SVG sits above the texture — and they are the usual answer when a section looks flat but a background image would be too much.

Textures are subtle by design; if one is not visible on a given palette, that palette's stronger and weaker derivatives are close together, which is a Themer setting rather than something to fix on the component.
