Introduction
Version 5.0 · September 2026
This guide is designed to help you navigate and use a website built with Convivial for GovCMS. It is organised in six sections:
Site structure — how the site is put together: content types, components, menus, taxonomies and blocks.
Concepts and tools — ideas that run through the whole site.
Roles — what each kind of user can do; find yours.
Theme settings — for Themers.
Content editing — creating pages, media, workflow, webforms, the editor and the component reference.
Support — where to go for help.
Conventions used in this guide:
Menu paths are written as Manage → Content.
Field names and button labels are written in bold.
URLs are relative to the site, e.g.
/admin/content.Screenshots show the demo site; your site's content and colours will differ but the forms are the same.
Site information
Demo site: https://govcms.convivial.io/. Its Demo section, https://govcms.convivial.io/demo, walks through every component, modifier, view mode and content type in this guide, and each chapter links to the page that shows what it describes.
